Tempr — Privacy Policy

Last updated 5 October 2026

Everything stays on your Mac

Tempr has no account, no analytics and no tracking. It does not have permission to connect to the internet, so nothing it reads about your files can leave your Mac.

What Tempr reads

Tempr reads your Downloads folder: each item’s name, size, type, the date it arrived, the date you last opened it, and — when your browser saved it — the address it was downloaded from.

To find duplicates, Tempr reads the contents of files that are exactly the same size and compares their fingerprints. This happens on your Mac and nothing is kept except the result. To recognise installers for apps you already have, it reads the list of apps in your Applications folder.

What Tempr changes

Tempr only ever moves files to the Trash. It never deletes anything outright, and everything it moves can be put back from Recently Removed in Tempr or from the Trash in Finder.

It manages only files that arrive in Downloads after you start using it, and files you choose yourself in Review Downloads. Files that were already there are never touched unless you act on them. When you use Move To…, files go only to the folder you pick.

What Tempr stores

The list of items it manages, with the details above, your rules, and the files you chose to keep, so later scans remember your choices. Records of removed items are kept for 30 days. All of it is stored in Tempr’s own folder on your Mac and is removed when you delete the app and its data.

AI features

Tempr does not use any AI service today. If a future version adds optional AI suggestions, this page will say exactly what is sent and to whom before the feature ships, and Tempr will ask you before sending anything.
